Tri Team Triumphs for Ty Hafan

In September 2022, Richard, Peter and Helen teamed up to take part in the Superfeet Sandman Triathlon to raise money for the Welsh children's charity, Ty Hafan. At iON Consultants, we choose a charity to support each year. In 2022, we selected T? Hafan and were proud to support the charity's outstanding work through a range of fundraising activities. Ty Hafan provides vital support to children and young people with life-limiting conditions and their families. 

At its hospice in the Vale of Glamorgan and in homes and communities across Wales, Ty Hafan provides compassion, comfort and specialist care to help young people feel better, gain confidence and have fun. The charity provides a safe haven where families can create precious memories. It costs £5.6 million a year to run, the majority of which is raised through donations and fundraising. 

The Sandman is widely regarded as the most beautiful multi-terrain adventure triathlon in the country. It starts with a sea swim at Llanddwyn Beach next to Newborough Forest on Anglesey, with the backdrop of Snowdonia never out of sight. Each member of our Tri team tackled a section of the gruelling coastal triathlon with great spirit. 

Richard kicked things off for the team, and, despite being concerned about the choppy waters, he successfully completed a 1500-metre sea swim in one of the leading times. Peter took on the second leg, completing a 58km bike ride in good time before handing over to Helen, who ran a competitive 10km. 

The hospice raises the majority of its running costs through donations and fundraising events. Our intrepid Tri team raised an impressive £2380, and we thank everyone who supported their determined efforts. We were all incredibly proud of the team and hope that this contribution will make a difference to families across Wales.
